Sometimes I feel like an outsider among outsiders.

EVERYbody thinks that! Well no, I bet there are some complacent souls out there, but I don't know any of them. I can't believe the stories I hear. How any of us are alive and still able to think is a miracle.
Don't you dare chicken out!!!

I like what litbyfire says. We are all scared. I know that I'm realizing the key is to write. The very act of doing that helps us move forward despite our fears.

You mean there's a "traditional poetry background"?...Suzanne, as far as I can see there is no reason to chicken out. Your accomplishments speak for themselves. An MFA does not a superior poet make!

*L* you are in good company, suzanne. sometimes i find myself thinking "what do i know about poetry", but at other times i think that you can study and be guided and told too much, and perhaps lose what is unique about yourself. but then again ...

i understand.
