January

Again I reply to the triple winds
running chromatic fifths of derision
outside my window:
        Play louder.
You will not succeed. I am
bound more to my sentences
the more you batter at me
to follow you.
        And the wind,
as before, fingers perfectly
its derisive music.

I like this poem. Thanks for posting it. Sometimes I don't like Williams. Yes, I know, my bad.

Williams is remarkable.

                            I am
bound more to my sentences
the more you batter at me
to follow you.

Great piece. Great writer. Thanks for the post Suzanne.

As I write this I am listening to the "derisive music" of rain (of all things) at my window. Thank you for this gift, Suzanne. :-)
