My Body as the Tropicana Nightclub, 1952

appears in the Summer 2010 North American Review! I received my contributor's copies yesterday. I am so honored to be included in this beautiful, beautiful issue -- it's their summer fiction issue as well as their issue celebrating Hispanic Heritage -- contributors include Chantal Avecedo, Rafael Campo, Steven Ramirez, David Wagoner and many others. I started reading it last night and so far I have loved Rafael Campo's poem "Trees" (beautiful) and Steven Ramirez's story "Five Movie Endings [I Would Banish from This World if I Were Ruler Supreme of Hollywood]" (Hilarious!). I'm looking forward to reading the rest of the issue.

No reading today though, because I have to attend two kiddie birthday parties. These are the fourth and fifth such parties since school started. Parents, please ask yourselves, does you child really need a birthday party? Does he/she really deserve one? j/k

Seriously, I'm going to have to start saying no to some of these invites. It's too much! Too much partying for my own children. Too much overstimulation for their mother.

Enjoy your weekend~*

That's a killer title, Suzanne. The bookstores down here don't carry NAR, I'm going to have to hunt it down.
