Suzanne Frischkorn of Connecticut and Judith Valente of Chicago, Ill., winners of The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum's 2005 Aldrich Poetry Competition, will read from their work Sunday, Oct. 23, from 4 to 6 p.m. in the Aldrich's Leir Gallery. Suggested donation for the reading is $5. For more information or to RSVP for this event, please contact the Museum at (203) 438-4519.

Renowned poet Mary Oliver was the judge for this year's competition. Oliver is the author of several volumes of poetry, including The Pulitzer Prize-winning book, American Primitive and New and Selected Poems, which won the National Book Award. Oliver's honors include fellowships from the Guggenheim Foundation (1980-1981) and from the National Endowment of the Arts (1972-1973). She has also received an American Academy and Institute of Arts and Letters Achievement Award, a Lannan Literary Award, and the Poetry Society of America's Shelley Memorial Prize. Oliver has written the introduction to the Chapbook, which will be available for sale at the reading on Oct. 23 and in the Museum shop.

The Aldrich Museum of Contemporary Art is located at 258 Main Street(Route 35) in Ridgefield. Regular museum hours are Tuesday through Sunday, noon to 5 p.m.
