Raining

I always buy used cars. I've had good luck with big old Volvos. A Volvo wagon might hold everyone. And they are tanks. I got hit full speed by a pickup backing out of a parking space--the guy didn't see that I was IN the next space, and slammed right into the passenger door. Sam was sitting in the passenger seat--he was about 12. He was fine. There was slight damage to the door. The pickup was completely crumpled and messed up from its encounter with Volvo Door. If we'd been in a smaller car Sam would have been crushed, or a least broken a leg...

PS Also, Volvos aren't considered even broken in before 100,000 miles.

I know what you mean about the payments and insurance.

I need one too, but I am afraid to get one! I keep going back and forth, back and forth.

when i was in the market i found certified pre-owned vehicles all to have piles of options i didn't want—which also jacked the price up above or near enough to a base model of something new.

Another vote for Honda. Also, I'm no expert on cars, but couldn't it be the alternator? Sometimes that makes a car not start, and it's usually not that expensive to fix.

Thanks, Everyone, I hope Jeannine is right and it's just the alternator, then I can get a Volvo! (mmwahaha)

Raining. I'm also no expert on cars (though I've had my fair share of car problems. . .) and the fact that it won't start in the rain makes me think it might have to do with the spark plugs. One time I spent over $1500 to fix a car, only to figure out that I needed a new set of spark plugs. This'll cost you less than an alternator!

Good luck.
