Some Words

The shots of the river walk are from last weekend. I took my entire family with me--this is unusual because my entire family includes a teenager--the river walk is about two miles long, it starts on the edge of one city and ends on the edge of another. We found dandelions as big as our fists, gigantic dandelions begging to be blown, a white heron, butterflies, a duck and her ducklings, abandoned buildings, graffiti, missing railway ties, folks fishing. At the end we decided to head on to Main Street and get refreshed. We stopped at a little cafe and listened to live music, "That's Alright, Mama." We tapped our feet and fingers, one of us danced and was invited to take the show on the road, and then we paraded back to the river walk. We walked and talked and talked all the way home.

Your teenager talks to you???? In public??? What an accomplishment. My son talks to us now that he's out of high school, but for 4 years it was silence, silence, silence, punctuated by Where's the cat? Do we have anything to eat? No, not food food, real food like Cheetos.

Trust me, Pamela, this was a *very* unusual day, most days it's exactly as you've described. I think I wrote it down so I won't forget it actually happened. So I can say, "Remember the day T went out in public with us? Remember that day? He even talked to us. *LOLOLOL*

So there's that to look forward to.... Well, we've already got commitments from our girls that in fact they will still do things with us in high school. But I suspect those agreements go by the wayside when they actually reach that age, alas.
