And Now a Word from Our Sponsors
Well, yesterday I received the sad news that the Alsop Review Press is going to discontinue their Spoken Word Series. Apparently, it was more costly and more time consuming than anticipated. There is still time to grab a copy of A Shore Without Silence before they close up shop--there's even a handy dandy paypal link--this poetry CD has 32 tracks and includes many of the poems from Red Paper Flower, all of the poems from Spring Tide, and a few uncollected poems. Professionally recorded in our friend Dave's studio (Thanks, Dave!) the CD is rather elegantly packaged and goes for $10 plus S&H. Others in the series include Kim Addonizio, Rhina Espaillat, Jack Foley and Robert Sward. It's too bad--I thought the AR Press was really filling a niche with these CDs.

At 5 past Tuesday
celebral lunatics
talking of relevance
on the art boards in cyberspace
gather sound,
claiming to make the patterns of exchange
they create
into a number of truths
which frame a commitment
to concrete expression
by anchoring sense in earth bound images
within the context of modernity
I listen
transfixed
hypnotised
by the weight of voices
and
test a theory
of how
to picture
meaning
by measuring
the relative
length
of each syllable
with its syntatic sense
and
the
degree
of assonance
cossanance
and
alliterative value
when
spoke
to
life
by
a
poet’s breath
