Wow

My Mother Dreams Another Country

God, I love the way she writes.

This is a remarkable piece. I especially like these lines--

She breathes it in – Mississippi – then drifts toward sleep,
thinking of someplace she’s never been. Late,
Mississippi is a dark backdrop bearing down
on the windows of her room.

The strength of the imagery pulls in the reader. Wonderful writing.
